I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and a half. My mother (and father) hates tattoos so I didn't really discuss the fact I was thinking of getting one. So one day I took my design and went to the tattoo place I'd picked out. Got my price quote and was told that, due to a cancellation, I could get my tattoo done that very day. So an hour later I was back in there wondering whether I was doing the right thing and trying to control my nerves. An hour and 15 minutes later I was done... and I've never regretted it since! I had my ink for 2 weeks before my mother saw it. Well she didn't hit the roof, not at first anyhow. In fact, she told me to wash it off thinking it was a transfer. It was not a good moment when I had to explain it was real. So, the story behind this is simply they are my favourite band and inspired/helped me a lot!

I got my second tattoo about a year later. My mother's family are Irish and I've always loved the culture and iconography. So I decided to get a little piece of Ireland on my wrist. I hunted for the perfect design for months until I found it tucked away in some obscure little corner of the internet. It's the claddaugh symbol with a clover integrated into the hands.

And then, I got my third tattoo two weeks ago. It's purpose is to serve as a reminder of the past few months. The meaning of it, is that even though a heart can be broken it can heal and 'fly' again. I designed this one totally myself. This picture was the day I got it, before my skin had a reaction to the red ink.
