| Does anyone have any Peonies? And have you noticed how they resemble Opium plants what with the bloom pod at the top? Also, how can I go about making a cutting of Wisteria thrive? My last did not do so well. |

| Kohai peonys are best increased by division although they will sulk afterwards whichever method you use and may not flower for a couple of years .Wisteria are always grafted because seedlings dont flower, the dutch flooded the market 20,years ago with cheap seedlings and now people have beautifull plants that wont flower ,i wouldnt bother with cuttins .Wisteria are so cheap now its really not worth waiting for a plant to reach an age where it will flower id just buy one already in flower next year. |

| Thank you darlin'. I love the smell of Wisteria. It grows rampant here. This year I'm putting out Jasmine next to my porch so that it will climb all over. I just love to sit out there first thing in the morning waiting for the kid's bus to come and smell it. The scent always seems strongest at that time of day. I'm also putting Butterfly bushes along the road. Once they've done some growing I'll finally have the privacy to float in my pool topless and not give the neighbors a free show. D*** this living piled on top of each other. |

Until recently it's been like the bloody gates of Hades opened up on us. Temps around 103 to 105 every day for three weeks and no rain. We're starting to cool a bit now and getting a few showers here and there but we're under extreme drought conditions.
How about where you are? If it's any better there I may stow away in the cargo hold of a plane and come for a visit. |

| Flooding in the mideast here in the states. Wildfires popping up everywhere. It's been a crazy year. I almost dread to see winter coming. It's either going to be too warm again (80 degree Christmas day) or we'll see blizzard conditions in the southeast. |

| Rowdy, if you'd bought me a mop and a hoover for a gift I would have done more than just lock you out of the house. Forensic units would have been called to the scene. And if the judge I had to appear in front of ended up being a woman she would accquit for justifiable homicide. |

On days like today I light a good sized fire in the fireplace and just keep it burning all day long and try to get my wife to warm me up a little. She tells me to put on a sweater or cuddle with my rottweiler. |

Mag & Rowdy - please keep us updated on the progress. We're putting in a pond, too - of course we've been planning it for about TEN YEARS!!! So far we have the liner, all the rock, and most of the stuff for the pumps, etc...just never have broke ground to actually do it. I'm beginning to think we'll never get it done
Maybe your project will get us motivated...ha! (Or maybe I'll just live vicariously through you!) |

i have a tiny pond...5ft by 3ft, have a few gold fish and koi carp. a little water fall and uv pump, which we had to turn off as the electric kept shorting, we found out what it was. Bloody rats chewing the wires...will have to fix it in the spring tiem..
been to the zoo and saw the baby elephant last week, he or she is lovely....birn on the 7th of feb...sorry change of thread there..hehehe |

Mommabird we built a small pond at the old house we lived in but left it behind for our daughter we only moved. Here in september and transfered most of the plants we miss the pond more than we realised we ever could. We had frogs and goldfish a waterfall all done by us it was hard work digging the hole we couldnot fit a digger round our back so im afraid it has to be shovels and wheel barrow again. Never mind it will be worth it.Good luck on yours i will keep you posted. |

Couldn't I just hire a couple of strapping young 21 year old boys??? In the heat of summer of course (they'd have to take their shirts off, ya'know!)
And Mag, I think if ours was in our backyard, we'd like it better and probably would be more apt to get it done. Unfortunately, with big dogs and a little backyard, I'm not willing to give any of it up. I'm hoping to move in the near future and have room to have a private pond with sitting area, etc. I think we'd really enjoy it!
Right now our pond will have to go in a front flower bed (it'll be about 10 X 12 ft). I think that's why we haven't been too motivated, as there isn't a place to sit an enjoy it out front |
